Introduction and specifications
Following the pandemic's surprise spike in tablet demand, smartphone manufacturers had no choice but to try their luck in what was previously believed to be a doomed industry. Realme is no exception, and the Realme Pad X is the brand's most recent product. Although it appears to be a productivity-focused solution for the public, this particular item is only available in India. We say this in the kindest possible way: it's unfortunate that such a beautiful tablet is not widely accessible. Continue reading to learn why.
The Realme Pad X has a reasonably large 10.95-inch display and a reasonably powerful Snapdragon 695 SoC for multitasking and daily work. Along with it, Realme provides a magnetic keyboard and a pressure-sensitive stylus. Therefore, the Realme Pad X is a highly viable option if you don't require a full-featured laptop.
Along with the aforementioned components, the Pad X is powered by a big 8.340 mAh battery, which offers several hours of autonomy. A 33W rapid Dart Charge is used in addition to the large battery.
The Pad X is also available as a cellular edition, with 5G, mind you, and a GPS receiver, an uncommon feature on a midrange tablet, in case you require connection at all times.
The Realme Pad X delivers a nice construction despite its comparatively low price, albeit it feels somewhat substantial in the palm. That will undoubtedly appeal to some consumers because this feature is frequently seen as a sign of a well-built product.
Big and bright LCD panel
The Realme Pad X has a typical 1200 x 2000 px IPS LCD display, which results in an odd 5:3 aspect ratio. Although odd, it appears to be rather effective from the perspective of productivity (and we already see some tablets using it). And before you get outraged over why a 2022 tablet release didn't include an OLED screen, keep in mind that LCD panels currently rule this price range. OLED displays are only found in a select few expensive tablets.
It is to be assumed that this screen lacks HDR capability. We were surprised that Netflix only sees Widevine L3, which implies that only SD streaming is possible, on the device. YouTube is at least happy to provide 1080p60 feeds.
Apart from that, this display performed well in nearly all of our testing. In manual mode, the display achieved 394 nits and a good 1:1655 contrast ratio. The display's maximum brightness in auto mode was 496 nits, a superb achievement that would permit quite pleasant outdoor use. Reading text and doing ordinary surfing outside shouldn't be a problem, however consuming multimedia might be a difficulty.
The lowest brightness we could find was 1.6nits, which is extremely low and ideal for nighttime reading.
The best part is that there is practically no colour change while viewing the display at an angle, despite the excellent image quality.
Battery life
As would be expected from a powerful 8,340 mAh battery and an energy-efficient Snapdragon 695 CPU, the device's durability is great. Both the screen-on web browsing and video tests produced remarkable results that were on line with the most current tablets we tested.
charging velocity
The Pad X charges pretty quickly for a tablet. A 30-minute charging cycle restored 30% of the battery, while it completely recharged its battery in exactly two hours.
Therefore, the Realme Pad X offers a competitive 33W charging option in addition to having excellent battery life.
It is able to use a cable to charge other devices because it also supports USB OTG with reverse charging.
